Build. Break. Do. Make.
30.09.11
The brilliant Gavin Strange gave a super inspiring talk last night as part of the build up to this year’s Build Conference. Not content with being extremely talented, someone who throws himself into any creative project (and media) he finds interesting, a hugely enjoyable speaker, and a fixed gear rider, he’s also a true gent too… fantastic evening all round really…
Also check out BÖIKZMÖIND, a 30 minute documentary Gavin directed on the Bristol fixed gear scene. It showed in Belfast as part of the On Your Bike Festival last month, but is travelling round the rest of the UK (and the world) so check out the screenings or you can organise your own!

Paul McAlister Architects Selected for House of the Year
05.07.11
I don’t normally post work from unfinished jobs but wanted to share some great news for one of my clients.
Paul McAlister Architects are passive house specialists, one of the first practices in Northern Ireland to achieve this qualification. Paul was nearing completion on a house in County Down which he was keen to have photographed for entry in the House of the Year competition. We had a narrow window to get some photos taken between the house being completed and the deadline for the competition entry.
This meant a last minute trip on a gorgeously sunny June afternoon to do an initial recce of the location and work out the best time and light to come back and get finished shots. Unfortunately there wasn’t a chance to get back and do the finished shots before the entry deadline so the images take on the recce had to be used instead.
It all paid off as last week the Drumlins House was selected as a finalist in the House of the Year competition. Congratulations to Paul and everyone in the practice, and I’m definitely excited about getting back to photograph the house again….
Robots>>>> Installation at Crescent Arts
28.06.11
Last month I was asked to help document London based Robots>>>> artist collective as they built and installed an incredible permanent sculpture in the Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast.
It was fantastic working with the Robots>>>> crew and also gave me the opportunity to finally get my head around shooting video on the 5D.
Whilst there is an official opening in August, the installation is in place in Crescent Arts right now, so if you haven’t been in yet get yourself down there and check it out. It’s an amazing piece of work that both compliments and enhances the newly refurbished centre - full props to Crescent Arts for commissioning something so exciting!

Polaroids
16.03.11
I've been taking my old Polaroid Sun 600 on a few jobs recently to try out the Impossible Project's PX 600 Silver Shade Polaroid film (UV+ and 06 Editions). The film's incredibly sensitive to temperature and light, especially when it's just out of the camera, but here's some instant gratification from the past week or so...
